wwdiary - version 3.9.4 posted to Android Market

In a past update I moved the files on the sdcard to a more standard location.  This resulted in the unintended consequence of backup files being deleted when the app was uninstalled.   This update restores the original location of files so that they will not be removed and you can keep your data.

This update also includes some performance and widget update fixes.  Thanks to Walter for helping me track them down!

  1. I downloaded a previous version of wwdiary, and I am LOVING the app. Thank you so much!! How do I update to a new version, though? Is there an "update" feature I'm missing somewhere? Do I uninstall the earlier one? Will I lose my database?

    Thanks! C

  2. How did you install it, from the apk listed here on the blog?

I believe that you can continue to download and install updates from the blog, but it's best managed if you can access it from the Android Market. Though I know some devices do not have the Android Market installed on them.

It should not wipe your data if you install again from the apk, though to be safe, try backing up your data from inside the app settings page.

  3. You are correct, I don't have access to the Android Market. I downloaded the apk from your blog and loaded it onto my enTourage eDGe.

So, I just back up the database, download the new APK, install it on the eDGe, and it should be up and running? No need to uninstall the old version?

    Thanks! C

  4. Yes that should work. Uninstalling would not be recommended unless you take extra steps to ensure data is not lost. There was a problem in recent versions (only corrected in the last one) where backup files were deleted on app uninstall.
